Outdoor LED Displays
An LED display is a large screen assembled by LED module cabinets, using RGB LED beads as pixels to present videos, images and text. Classified into indoor, outdoor, curved, flexible and rental types. It features bright visuals, long lifespan, customizable sizes and easy content updates for advertising, events and commercial signage.
High-quality LED displays feature an L70 lifespan of 50,000–100,000 hours. With daily regular use and proper maintenance, indoor screens can serve 6–10 years, while outdoor LED walls typically operate stably for 5–8 years. Service life may be shortened in extreme weather environments without effective protection.
- Superior Visual Effect: High brightness, wide viewing angle and vivid color reproduction ensure clear visibility both indoors and under direct outdoor sunlight.
- Long Service Life & Stable Performance: Rated L70 lifespan reaches 50,000–100,000 hours, with reliable operation for years under regular maintenance.
- High Flexibility for Customization: Available in various pixel pitches, sizes, curved/flexible shapes to fit walls, stages, storefronts and special creative projects.
- Energy Saving & Low Operating Cost: Low power consumption compared to traditional billboards and projection screens; only minimal routine upkeep required.
- Real-Time Dynamic Content Update: Easily switch videos, images and texts remotely, ideal for advertising, events, branding and information release.
- Strong Environmental Adaptability: Waterproof, dustproof and temperature-resistant outdoor cabinets work steadily in diverse climate conditions.
LED display resolution refers to the total number of LED pixel points horizontally and vertically on the screen, calculated by cabinet pixel size × cabinet quantity. It determines image clarity.
1. Calculation method
Resolution = Total horizontal pixels × Total vertical pixels. For example, a screen made of P5 cabinets (320×160 pixels per cabinet) with 4 cabinets wide and 3 cabinets high has a resolution of (320×4) × (160×3) = 1280×480.
2. Relation with pixel pitch
Pixel pitch (P value) directly affects resolution under the same screen area. Smaller pixel pitch means more pixels within the same size, higher resolution and sharper pictures.
3. Practical reference
- Fine pitch (P0.9–P2.5): High resolution, for close-view indoor scenes like meeting rooms and control rooms
- Medium pitch (P3–P6): Balanced resolution and cost, for malls, storefronts and stages
- Large pitch (P8–P16): Moderate resolution, designed for long-distance outdoor billboards
To pick the proper LED display, you need to evaluate these main factors:
- Application environment: Indoor screens need lower brightness; outdoor models must support waterproof, dustproof and high brightness.
- Viewing distance & pixel pitch: Longer viewing distance matches larger pixel pitch to cut costs.
- Installation structure: Wall-mounted, hanging, floor-standing or rental mobile cabinets. Extra demands: Curved shape, COB packaging, high refresh rate, energy saving, etc. Budget and long-term maintenance cost.
